AML Season 13 Quarterfinals Predictions

The playoffs are here in what might be the most open AML season ever. Looks like Mizerie's uparrow rating system (UPRS) has proven successful. It's pretty easy, anyone who taps the uparrow key even once during a game gets a +10.00 rating and thrown out of the league. The rating system has killed the old playing style of AML. It used to be three scrubs would fly around randomly and let their ringer do all the work. Now every game is eight scrubs flying round randomly waiting for overtime.

Eight squads managed to endure this excitement week after week to make the AML playoffs and the Vorbometer is back once again to tell you what to think. How have you managed without me?

Alcoholism vs Secret
Secret are the new No Data of AML. Eurolaggers, lobbers, deep roster, good regular season team, chokers in the playoffs.

Alc are a one man team. They are led on the field and off the field by the living God known simply as cirrhosis. I have no idea how the ratings panel missed this guy, he should be starting in Pro. In fact, the staff should make another league above Pro. Then make another league above that one for cirrhosis to display his godlike powers to the thousands of adoring fans in the spec freq. This is a man (I say man, only because 'God' seems inadequate) who can dominate a game while sitting in spec, can sub in and go 12-0 yet manage to share those kills among his team-mates so it looks like he really went 1-1. Makes the Jesus loaves and fishes thing look like a cheap conjuring trick.

Secret have no chance. In fact just showing up would be an insult to the legend that is cirrhosis.

A lot of people think that Llamasery is a cult, but it's even worse than that. They're all zombies. You'd of thought their kill macro would've been a dead giveaway:

"Brains Brains Brains Brains Brains %killed Brains Brains"

It doesn't matter what their opponents try to do, they just keep slowly lumbering forward. You know you're going to get eaten eventually. No matter what pre-game plans you've drawn up, the inevitability of it all just drives you mad and after 40 minutes of holding out at 0-0 you give up and you're zombie food. Jocker can fire as many emps as he likes, it's not going to help. It's hard to MVP when Suppoko is sucking your brains out through your nostrils.

Hitlist vs Warlords
Lets kill the myth right now that Warlords are head and shoulders above everyone else in AML this season. Warlords aren't that good. Really, they're not. I know they've only lost one game all season, but that doesn't matter. Acidreign finished the regular season 16-1 and the top rated AML pilot. I've no idea how though as he can't aim. They always have at least one slot in every game for their spider pilots as it's always handy to have a cloaker three screens away from the action and Mizerie could get himself isolated in Tiananmen Square during The National Whole Population of China Stands in Tiananmen Square Day.

After saying that they do do two things really well (everyone should construct a sentence where you can fit 'do do' in). Those are being able to play in space and maintain separation between themselves and their opponents. The other thing they do well is back each other up. Against most AML squads this season that has been enough to win and has brought them this far, but if a team can put pressure on them through a full 45 minute game I think they'll crack.

Luckily they're playing Hitlist on Sunday who couldn't exert pressure if their very lives depended on it. They played Alc last Sunday and managed to while away the majority of the match hiding in a box. I heard that Osama Bin Laden took time out from his busy schedule to spec some Premier League last weekend and was heard to say "Damn, I thought I was a chickenshit hiding fuck, but Hitlist take the biscuit. Death to America."

I don't think Warlords are going to make it to the finals. Some squad is going to blow them out, but it's not going to be Hitlist.

Watch out for: The spec freq in pre-game guessing which box Hitlist are going to hide in for the first twenty minutes of the match.

StarFire Academy vs ReDS-AML
I do have respect for Solar Hydro as a person and as a squad captain so I do not think that he is cheating, but quite frankly I'm sick of SFA and their 'Amazing Lag'. I've played them twice this season and have had to endure unholy tankage, people quite happily chugging along firing bombs and bullets after taking an emp or three and the clincher - chasing someone who's red then watching them escape by flying through a wall.

Now every squad has someone like this on their roster and you just have to live with it. Some, mostly Euro-based, squads may have two. It's not nice but you can work with it. All four of SFA's regular starters and their first two sub choices are like this. It's just not funny anymore knowing that you have to do three times the damage that SFA do just to stay even and if you do ever get any of them in trouble they can just sub in another lag monster for more fun and games.

If I was ReDS I would just let 5ass go on an AnalIntruder-like random lanc bombing rampage and just hope that speed, vT or whoever spikes onto one or two of them. It's the only chance they've got.

AML Rankings

(what follows is an excerpt from my forthcoming book, "Lag, Lies and Love. The Victimise story". It is a work of fiction and any similarity to any individuals, living or dead, is purely coincidental.)

Well the AML rankings are out. Some are right, some are wrong. You're never going to make everyone happy, but apart from a few obvious howlers (falsehood) I think the rankers did a pretty good job considering the amount of people they had to rank. And what of those rankers? Some of them have already revealed themselves, some of them are still in the shadows.

So what criteria do you need to become an AML ranker? A good knowledge of Premier League is a given. A fair and balanced approach to assessing players is also essential. The rankers must also look past any problems they have had with individual players and squads in the past. Also high up on the list is the ability to see beyond your own place in AML. I'm guessing some of those rankers are AML pilots and AML squad captains. Some might even be AML staff members. It must be hard to rate yourself, or your squad, out of AML. To be picked as an AML ranker you must be trusted to make your decisions based purely the skill level of the pilot's ability and no other reason.

What would happen if a ranker decided to abuse his position and fix the rankings and manipulate the rankers for his own personal gain? What follows is what I think would happen if this occurred. For the sake of narrational flow I've decided to call this fictional ranker 'DeathKnight'.

Ok just looked at the whole rankings bit. Looks pretty much like what i had ranked...except for Haz-mat being a 2.1 rofl are you guys insane :P Only thing im thinking is before you post that to the public that you figure out who you are going to grandfather and allow to stay in AML out of the reds and yellows and post that with the rankings (with whatever reasons and such with it) You have already talked to me in Private so you know how i feel about this situation miz. So lets get this to the public so that they stop bitching about the rankings :)

Well its the same for me as fck it. If i am forced out of AML before i wish to go then i will just retire from SS and be done with it. I have a long list of reasons on why i do not wish to go to a more competitive league atm. 1) AML is the only league that you can play and have a laid back style of play. 2) I do not have the time to practice and keep myself on top of my game for IML play. 3) i have played IML with United and if it wasnt for having friends on my team i would not have had any fun at all. I just dont have the energy to try and be competitive in a higher league because of all the crap i have to deal with in life. You guys consider it slumming in AML but to me its just where i am supposed to be. Most everyone believes i am too good for AML but who are they to judge me and tell me where i should play in a video game. So thats all i have to say if everyone says force me up i guess ill say goodbye here too.

Pushead thats your biased opinion from someone who isnt even playing AML. Like i said before its AML or nothing for me. If you guys decide to choose to move me up then you will lose one of the most active players and this game will continue to barrel roll into oblivion. This is the first time i have ever heard of a video game where people cannot play where they want to play and i think its total BS. I never gave a rats ass if pros played AML cause i still played regardless. Also pus you dont even know the whole situation and you avoid the facts. DAW brought my son into things so i retaliated with something just as low. I never disrespected my squaddies and you can ask them all that. I didnt throw out EFs chances at playoffs because the people who showed to the game all agreed on the turreting scheme. So before you jump to conclusions and assume anything MAYBE you should get your facts straight. If it seems im a little pissed off about this well fuck i am cause noone should tell me where i want to play in a game i have spent countless hours in since i began years ago. Also if we are voting people to move up i say Pushead has to move up to Pro and Morphine has to also move up to pro i believe they are too good for IML and should move up. You cannot do this to me and not apply the rule to everyone. And if we are voting on me we must vote on every player in AML and IML.

Also Miz i would like your answer on my situation today if possible. You know how everyone is going to vote even i could tell you that. I have enough enemies to know people will vote me up regardless of how my situation is. So give me an answer today so i can do what i need to do.

Also my comments to your internet girlfriend were only issued AFTER she stuck her nose into business that was not her own so she deserved it. That right there shows your biasness towards me because you defend your girl from me. I honestly dont give a rats ass how people rate me. Shit i rated myself higher than the avg people gave me. I know i can play in the higher leagues and probably hold my own. The point is I DONT WANT TO! AML is more competitive and the games are alot more exciting. ANYTHING can happen in AML but IML and pro have the same game every weekend. Get 4 people in warbirds...lob till someone dies...run out clock. BORING. Like i said if Miz tells me sorry no AML for you Goodbye and Good luck with SS. You will only see me on to chat from then on in and then HOORAY everyone will be happy that DK no longer plays SS.

your comments continue to show bias towards your hatred for me. I have no pity for people who kill themselves. I have had 2 family members kill themselves and they took the pussy way out so my family is better off without them. Help my case how? They wont get moved up cause they "are not as good" but people only say im good cause they dislike me. Its seen over and over again. The people who hate me say move up out of spite the people who know me well enough say let him be where he wants to be and the people who have no tie to me whatsoever say what really counts. So that means a team like EF can have me but not five0 or Narchs could keep scythe krellin or tertain. It keeps it fair and everyone would get what they want. mauler but in deists case he doesnt have a problem moving up because he has the time to compete and a higher league setting. my work schedule does not allow me to squadprac with my team because i am never able to be on when they are. I work 5PM-5AM EST Weds,thurs,fri,sat. That leaves me enough time on sundays to prac a bit before match and then play. If i were to move up to IML i would not be able to stay on top to stay competitive with the other players because i dont have this extra time. AML allows me to play and have fun without having to worry about "OMG i didnt practice im going to suck" or getting benched because i didnt practice. Think about football for a second. If i didnt practice do you think any coach in the NFL would play me just because im good? No i would be sent down to AAA football where i could play with less restrictions. Im not denying that i have the capability to play in a higher league im saying that i would not be able to practice with my team, establish any kind of teamwork, or to have fun without having to worry about screwing up. At least in AML with the teams i have been on or played against (with the exceptions of narchs this season) i have been able to have fun in matches and continue playing this game as i always have. Yes im a prick. Yes i do fling shit at people when they fling shit at me and i will get down and dirty if i need to. People who see past my trashing can see the real me which alot of people do know. I tried to be civil to pushead and honestly i cant stand him anymore because he doesnt know how to keep his nose out of conversations that do not concern him. well explain to me when i have to sleep 8 hours each day where i have time to play before 5PM? i get home at 6AM and have to leave by 4PM which gives me 2 hours to do whatever i need to do and its usually to eat and shower. Also in CoH it takes about 3 hours to gain 6 levels so going from 1 to 50 is not difficult at all. You say that no team has a chance when i play so how come EF did not win AML? Im done trying to explain myself to people when noone will understand because they do not know me in real life. If yall want to force me out of AML and have me quit thats fine. Im sure i could use the spare time on sundays to do other things. I for one have many many people who are pissed off at my being forced out and they are also upset that they have no say in whether i should be forced out or not. 90% of them say it isnt fair and has nothing to do with my skill level. They enjoy me being in the league and they enjoy my company as one of their fellow AMLers. i know you werent attacking me i didnt take it that way i was just showing my side of it. Yes there are tons of people who are like deist. But two players in particular me and fckit have a problem moving up. Its cases like ours that should be looked into. If people want to go up fine its what they want but forcing people who dont want to go who have played AML almost their entire career is wrong. We dont stop people who are not ranked good enough for IML to move up do we? So why should we do the same for the higher ranked AML players. I was never a Pro player who dropped down to AML to slum it up. Im just a good AML who has never left and does not want to go. I wish i could have you guys understand my point of view.

It is always a fact that AML will never be noobie friendly due to the fact that there are so many middle players in AML. A true noobie to me is a player like haz-mat who couldnt hold his own in a match for more than 5 mins without dying. People like that should not even be playing AML till they get better. Hell it tooks me seasons upon seasons to learn how to play. I came from alpha remember? Everyone needs to agree on what a noobie is. Do you consider Gazelle from Warlords a newbie or Mitsubishi from hitlist a newbie? Almost all of AML is continuously the same people playing on different teams over and over. I have played against almost everyone in AML at one point or another. Savage is right if your going to grandfather someone like bukkwild (who is also a player who can change the outcome for any team) then you cannot say oh well DK cant cause he is too good. Putting the reason down that ive only been on EF for 2 seasons is moot because if given the chance ill stay on EF this season and the next and the next. If and when we decide to move up ill go with them. You should look at how many of the people being forced up are adament on staying AML. I count 2. Me and fckit. Everyone else doesnt mind moving up. So there MUST be reasons outside of this panel that is causing the two of us not to want to go IML. I think you should have a talk with all the people you may be forcing up and asking them how they feel about it. Grandfather the ones who want to stay above all else. That will make everyone happy because i know krellin scythe and others will follow narchs wherever they go.

AML Semi Finals Quick Predictions

Well it's like this...

I just finished the semi final predictions and was copy and pasting them into the blog when my PC froze up. Couldn't do anything to fix it, had to reboot and it was bye bye predicts =(

So instead of re-writing them, which I'm fucked if I'm going to do, you're only going to get this summery of what I wrote:

Llamasery vs ElementalForces

Tight game here, with llamas trying to keep their shape against EF's more aggressive style. The key here may be Sky0ne's Strong Bad style computer explosion. Without that control from spec we could see another performance like the NB loss from EF as ego's run unchecked, and if it's one thing EF have got in spades it's unchecked egos. Llamas to just sneak it in a very tight low scorer. And yes I know last week I said whoever won the EF/BN game would be my pick to win it all. In my original predictions I spent a log time going over this in detail and why I could still choose llamas. You'll just have to take my word that I had very good arguements.
Quickometer: 3-2 Llamasery

NightBane vs StarFire Elite

Another tight game. SFE have the teamwork, NB have the individual skill. This match is going to be decided on one thing: lag. Both these squads have laggers falling out of their asses. The difference between them though is that NB's laggers usually end up in spec while SFE's laggers will stay in and tank. Another point to bare in mind is that both of these teams have choked before deep into the playoffs when they were expected to win and I expect this game will be decided on a choke by someone here. As NB seem to be the team of density right now I'll go with them to win it in another tight one with MfA choking to lose it for the StarFire Elities.

AML Playoffs Round 2 Predictions

I went an impressive 2-3 in round 1 last Sunday. The two I got right were the obvious Llamasery over Fly-NDeath and the equally obvious (to me) NightBane over ElementalForces, although for different reasons than I expected.

The three I got wrong were SFE over BlackNike, which was the most surprising result of the round for me, not so much for SFE winning, but the manner of their victory. I expected BN's pace to push SFE back and when they subbed in their lower ranked players for reps for them to overwhelm them. Instead the opposite happened. The score was tight through the match and BN seemed to have the advantage, but SFE took over after the subs.

In the other two games I got wrong I got my upsets crossed. After the build-up I gave Warlords last week, including making them my most improved team of season, I still picked Disavowed for the win. I forgot about Dis' usual early round 1 exit in the playoffs when they're favourites and that's exactly what happened. The other game was Secret against CtrlShift, which was the game I did call the upset in, but in the end CS held on for an 8-7 squeaker after leading and looking comfortable at 6-3 and 8-4.

The highest rated player of the round was taffee who racked up +141 while going 4-0 with 2 KO's in leading Warlords to their upset over Dis. The LVP went to EF's Empower who rocketed his way to a dismal -301 MR Rating and an 0-3 record.

So here's the Vorbometer predictions for round two of the playoffs, which this week are brought to you by the VW Polo, small but tough.

The playoffs really start here. Both of these teams have what it takes to win the title, but one of them is going to get knocked out on Sunday. Both these teams suffered unexpected losses last week and both of them will be looking to make a statement here. Hell, I'll go farther than that; the winner of this match is going to win the championship. Who wins this game will be the team that can put their round 1 performance behind them and both teams have some baggage after what happened.

With EF I think the problem last week was that Sky0ne wasn't at the match. Against NB they looked disorganised. If you look at the box score then the choker of the match is obvious, it's Empower. In fact the real choker of the game was DarkDisparage on NightBane. I specced him for most of the game and he had a real mare of a match. His aim was totally off and he was redlining a lot. After a NB kill to start the match it was no surprise the next two kills were both on DD. But here's where EF lost it. The call to target DD obviously came from the players in the game, not from spec and they just opened up on him. Empower rocketed the shit out of him and all DD had to was backarrow and drop the odd bomb in his path. The next three kills were all on Empower and that was the game. DD ended up being the MVP.

BN's loss was completely different. The game was going completely to plan, for both teams. BN were hitting SFE hard, pushing them back and burning their specials. SFE were keeping their shape, not offering any obvious targets to BN and subbing for specials when needed. At the 28 minute mark the score was 5-5 and with Mauler and The Deist subbed out for MfA and Raspi things were looking in BN's favour, but SFE went on a three kill streak and although there was still five minutes left and the match was still 4v4 BN panicked and started to hit SFE as though it was the last minute of the game. They rocketed around the map, crossed their targets and blew any real chance they had in getting back into the game. BN did get two kills back, but the last kill went to SFE for a 9-7 win. The surprising thing for me here was how SFE used their tight slow-it-down style not to slow down BN to their pace, but to actually speed them up more and force errors at crunch times. Normally teams that play like SFE are pushed back hard and split up by BN's relentless pressure until they give up easy targets, but last Sunday it didn't work.

So who's going to bounce back Sunday? Logic says EF. They have players like Vezuvan and Rump Roast that they could throw into the game and I'd expect Sky0ne and Freakmonger to be there this time to control things, but I'm going to be unashamedly biased here and pick BlackNike and I'm doing it for one simple reason. For as long as I've known and played with BN (IML excluded) they've never had back-to-back bad games.

I don't know why I'm even bothering to type analysis for this game. FnD were seriously found out last Sunday by llamas. Even if FnD didn't have any lag problems the result and the score would have been the same. ZDX had zero support and FnD were bitch slapped 12-1 and the exact same thing is going to happen this Sunday. FnD are a one-man team and that is not going to get you wins in the playoffs

Watch out for: ZDX finally going bipolar as he gets chased 1v4 by SFE all over the map only 20 minutes into the game. Total meltdown, it's been coming all season.

Llamasery (#1) vs Warlords (#9)

Let's not go with all the happy crappy stuff about how WL's and llamas are such friends. Llamas' are going to run over Warlords here like roadkill and not look back. Warlords may be set up as the upset team of the playoffs (set up by me actually), but llamas' are built so you can't really get an upset out of them. They play so slow and deliberately it's hard to force a choke and you're not going to get them to play in another style to force the mistakes, and besides Warlords aren't built like that either. They're another grind em down style squad. For Warlords to beat llamas they'd have to play like SFE did against against BlackNike last weekend, but they don't have either the individual skill or depth to pull that off.

The only chance Warlords have is if llamas get caught looking ahead to round 3 where they play the winners of the EF/BN game. But considering the season they've had do you think that they're going to be worried who they play next week? Of course not and there goes Warlords last chance. Bye Miz.

NightBane (#5) vs CtrlShift (#10)

I think NightBane are the favourites in this match, but as I've already said they were very very lucky to come out with a win last week and they're not playing like favourites. Any half way organised team would of beat them last week and if you're looking for a half way organised team then you can't get much better than CtrlShift.

CS are right now in just enough mode. They did just enough to make the playoffs, they did just enough to beat Secret and this weekend they'll do just enough to beat Nightbane and then go on to do just enough against SFE which may or may not be enough, but this is about round two and when we're talking about NB just enough is plenty enough, enough for me to say it's enough anyway.

Moving Again

With eBloggy becoming increasingly unreliable I've decided to take the PremBlog back here permanently.

Season 7 is coming to an end. The IML championship has been decided, The ProBowl should finish this Sunday and AML is half way through the playoffs.

I will continue to do my predictions for AML, but I'm going to concentrate in getting this blog up and running for the start of next season. Right now I'm working on moving the eBloggy template over here, then I'll add all the old archives from eBloggy to here.

Once that's done I'll start to recruit some new posters and get some content up for the start of the season 8.

And this time I promise, no moving back.

AML Round 2 Predictions

I have a fever and the only prescription is more Vorbometer. Last week I went 7-3 with no matched scores. Now everyone knows that my predictions are infallible so the problems are obviously with the squads. I hope this week you can follow my predictions a little better (I'm looking at you Wasty). If you have any feedback, comments or suggestions please feel free to e-mail the guy that keeps hacking the forums. I'm sure he'd love to read them.

Victimise were due to play Blas last week but the game was postponed so I don't really know how well they're playing right now. Going on what they did in the pre-season (3 losses and a no-show win) I'm not expecting much from them, btw is Choko who I think he is? 7rom are pretty much the same squad in terms of style and ability that they've been since they joined AML, the training squad that doesn't get any better. This is going to be a close games, but not in a good way.

Narchs really surprised me last week against Secret. I didn’t think they'd be that good that quick. I see them practicing a lot and they could be a real surprise team this season. Shadow managed to lose to FnD badly, but what can you expect from a TRENCH WARS SQUAD?

A big week for Crips as 64 IMPALA SS re-joined the squad which gives them three quarters of a good starting four. Crips are going to make the playoffs, you heard it here first. Although after saying that, BN are going to shit on them from a great height on Sunday. Not that that should dishearten them, squads in the Thor division are going to have to get used to high altitude defecation when they're facing BlackNike.

CHAOS*ZONE (0-1) vs. Warlords (0-1)
Warlords surprised me last week, I thought they'd get blown out by EF, but they held on for the full 45 minutes losing 6-3. If they had a finisher on their roster they would of won, but that's been their problem for the last few seasons. They don't really have that star player to build their starting line around and although they can stay with the big teams they eventually lose (also see the pre-season game against BlackNike). Warlords are going to struggle to make the playoffs this season. Good news for CZ, CZL starts today.

I don't know what to make of CS. Ever since Redshift pulled out of Pro their roster has been getting strong week by week, this week they signed Dabomb(Milad), but they can't win. Last week they got their ass handed to them by Zeta. An easy win for them here over the Gauntlet squad, but if they don't sort themselves out soon they could miss the playoffs.

So are EF for real? Are NB? We get to find out tomorrow. Most of the starters tomorrow are coming down from IML last season (United for EF and Friendly Fire for NB) and it seems to have helped the NB players more than EF, noticeably twIsta who is now NB's leader and will get a lot of kills this season. It's far too early to call this a crunch game (just like our match against dy), but it will be interesting to see if EF can match the hype. I don't think they will.

Liquid Inc. vs. Oralse X
Interesting. LI got dropped in the pre-season and they've also pulled out of WZL this season, but now they're back. Malmox is back on the roster which is a big boost. They're probably a couple of weeks away from getting it together and against a team like OX they have no chance right now, but with Malmox back in the fold and the most evil lag in AML they should be pushing for a playoff spot.

Llamasery (0-0) vs. Secret (0-1)
The AML llamas benefit by practicing with the IML llamas a lot, but I think they rely too much on Crunchy in games and a good squad will find them out. Secret should be a good squad, but due to inactivity and chokage they haven't been getting it done and against llamas' tight teamwork and patient playing style they're not going to get it done this round either.

Well... I am busy as hell... gotta prepare my lecture notes for tomorrow and the week after. Get to talk about robots, programming architectures, yada.

But ill toss in a quick note about hackers.... or more specificically our little hacker.

Whats the point? It isnt new... AML got hacked twice or so before entering premier. Pro council forum was broadcast public to all pro... hint.. its been done.

It really doesnt bother me that much either. I put in X amount of hours to run premier. Either that X hours goes to dealing with the topics that are hot in the premier population... or they go to dealing with hackers. In the end it hurts those who want me to deal with their topics.

Pro League Pro Wrestling Predictions

An explanation for those of you new to the blog. My main predictions are for AML which is the league I play in (they should be up sometime tomorrow), but I also do some crappy predictions for the other two leagues. The three word predictions for IML (re-posted below) and the pro wrestling Predictions for Pro.

I found a program called Zeus Pro which allows you to sim wrestling matches so I renamed the wrestler's names to squad names and will sim the game of the week every round. So without further ado....

In case you haven't read high voltage's post about this you should click on the link to the Premier league main website above and read the news topic titled Aliasing...

So within the week there will be a public alias bot up and running and a long and great tradition in Subspace will be no more. RIP Picklemen, farewell Midgets, MMA taken from us suddenly, the Nintendo Power turret powered down, The Nine become The Named and goodbye to the Newbies 000 to 999.

Now you may say I'm overreacting, and OK it may be a minor thing which brings many advantages in policing the arenas and stopping doublesquadders, but we lose something more important:

Fun.

Aliases are a good thing. They bring a bit of interest to league. They get people talking about players and squads. This season in AML the squad in the spotlight is DAMN_Yankees who have several aliased players on their roster. I've been trying to break down who these people might be. Going on the links between DY, Unforeseen and Blackdragon and with bd not in league this season I guessed that maybe DY were Unf mark II, especially with several bd big names not on rosters. Now I'm thinking the aliased guys may come from Warzone. With nme now signed up to play for Dissent I'm probably on the right track. Now of course I'll just ask the bot and I'll know in 5 seconds. Where's the fun in that?

I'm going to let you all into a little secret, something only a few people know about and probably the funniest thing I've done in Subspace that didn't get me a 6 month ban. A couple of seasons ago Entertainment started a thread on the old (ie, better) forums about aliases in AML. Yes, Ent complaining about aliases, sometimes irony can be so ironic. Anyway, stool was playing for BlackNike so I got a go-between, who will remain nameless, to tell Entertainment that stool was Leaky the Leviathan. Even better I found out that the nick Leaky was free so I made it and started leaving ?messages to Ent saying that yes it was true, but no-one would believe him and of course he fell for it, posted it all on the forums and made a total idiot out of himself. Now Ent can spend 20 minutes with the friendly AliasBot and have an alias list of every name in AML and write his smug little thread about aliased ringers destroying AML.

And that's another thing. Aliases and ringers are two separate things. When bhang played AML for Happy Mob he played as bhang. An AliasBot Wouldn't of made any difference to that, or ZDX playing for FnD this season. Look at Unforeseen. In their AML championship winning season a large chunk of the roster was aliased. The players with pro experience (Nelson and pry) weren't. All the Newbies were AML'ers. Are you telling me that it would of made league more fun if everyone knew who they were the second they started playing? That's rhetorical btw.

There's little fun left in league now and this just makes it that little less enjoyable. So a final plea to the staff, please don't do this. The league is going to lose so much more than it will gain by an AliasBot. But of course it’s going to happen. So in closing a few personal RIP's:

I've discovered what the problem with the other blog is. For some reason the html editor on eBloggy isn't accepting the template. I've tried several different things to get it working again, but the only thing it will save is a few lines of code. All the posts are still there, but they can't be shown.

So I've decided to make a new home for the PremBlog here (which is where I should of hosted the blog is the first place). Over the weekend I'm going to set it up and send out invites to all the old posters and then will reopen the blog from next weekend.

And yes, the orange template is returning. I guess I better change the title bar.

Another new feature for the PremBlog. Every four rounds of the regular season I'm going to rank the top ten squads in AML. These rankings aren't based on any stats or based on results, only my biased and twisted opinions, but just to mix things up the top 4 players I've chosen for each squad are based on MasterRater stats. after the pre-season here's how I see the top squads in AML looking:

1. BlackNike (4-0)

After an excellent comeback against Disavowed yesterday, BlackNike go into the regular season as the form team in AML. They also have something they've really lacked in the last couple of seasons; depth. Crumbs and Hell Razed are both good pick-ups, SonyRed is active for the first time since BN's championship season and the legendary Joe Bane is nothing but clutch. If you want to win AML this season you're going to have to beat BlackNike. And yes, the rumours are true. A stool is Lady of the Lake.
Last 4 games: W12-7, W12-5, W12-0, W12-9
Top 4 players: Drue. (+290), Frowzy (+202), A.W.O.L (+180), ManDude (+152)

2. DAMN_Yankees (3-1)

Most peoples favourite for the title, although most people don't know who they are. I have my suspicions though. With Blackdragon out of league and most of BD not on league rosters I'm guessing that this is the old DY/Unforeseen line-up. The reason that I have them ranked below BN is that they haven't put it all together in one match yet. In pre-season you don't expect teams to put out their best four, but I can only rank on what I've seen and right now DY aren't playing like a #1 squad, but look out when they start to put out their strongest lines.

Top 4 players: Zombie (+366), GGF (+294), MONSTER (+241), poison (+209)

3. Disavowed (3-1)

Every season Seph brings Dis to AML and says we're not trying so it's OK, but everyone knows that's a load of crap. Seph is desperate to win AML again and he has a squad that just might do it this season. The usual semi active names are back (Kurtz, Doobie, MD, Blaze etc), but he's also picked up some good active guys this season (Tragon, DudeNow, Zeeeeeeee) who are also *gasp* practicing. Dis right now are an IML playoff level squad and arguably have the deepest roster in AML. Their problem has always been activity and getting people out of HZ to practice. Looks like this season neither of those things will be a problem. And yes, the rumours are true. Zeeeeeeee is Ellis D.'s brother.

Top 4 players: Zeeeeeeee (+277), DudeNow (+234), tragon (+187), Devoit (+164)

4. Victimise (3-1)

Biased, who me? In all honesty I feel that we deserve to be ranked fourth coming out of the pre-season. I always knew we would be strong this season, but I've been surprised how quickly the old vic (me, leaky, dip, Jim Morrison, Shadowseeker, Megus) have combined with the new vic (ampheres, bongman, Geneva, vomit). We're not at the level of the big 3 yet, but we're moving in the right direction.
Last 4 games: W11-6, L8-12, W12-4, W12-6
Top 4 players: ampheres (+323), bongman (+142), vorb (+133), Jim Morrison (+28)

5. NightBane (3-1)

NightBane are using the NB name for the first time in a few seasons and they also have almost their full WZ squad in AML after FriendlyFire pulled out of IML. I don't think we've seen the best from NB yet mostly due to the WZL regular season clashing with the AML pre-season. We might not see NB really firing on all cylinders until the playoffs, I expect them to improve game by game in the regular season and a finals appearance is not a reach for this roster.

Top 4 players: DarkDisparage (+247), Onlyone (+137), Time Bomb (+51), KSki (+40)

6. ElementalForces (4-0)

As the only other undefeated team through pre-season along with BlackNike you'd expect to see EF a lot higher than sixth, but I'm not convinced. They've picked up some non-nine peeps from United, but that's another problem right there. It seems like every season EF have a completely different roster and are always starting from scratch. Despite the win over DY they had an easy pre-season schedule and still need to prove that they're for real this season.

Top 4 players: iron hands (+227), Vezuvan (+186), mouser (+141), SkyOne (+104)

7. CtrlShift (2-2)

CtrlShift are starting to wake up. Miasma and A fowl wind were good pick-ups and a few of their normally hibernating roster are starting to show and play. With Redshift gone from pro this is now Redshift in all but name and I'd expect a few more familiar names on the roster before the lock. A quiet pre-season, but expect some fireworks from this squad as the season goes on.
Last 4 games: L4-12, W12-2, L3-12, W12-1
Top 4 players: Eldritch (+116), Miasma (+81), street fighter (-21), Islord (-57)

8. Oracle X (2-2)

This might be the most underrated squad on the list. OX have used the pre-season to play as many of their players as possible so have yet to show what their best four playing a full game are capable of. OX is built around ChaoticSky and the most evil spider in AML. Many squads are using cloakers now due to the increased cost in x-radar, but no squad uses it as well as OX and Chaotic. With some quality pilots to hide in and vulch from Chaotic and OX are going to give drive every squad they face nuts and will go deep into the playoffs.
Last 4 games: W12-4, W12-3, L4-12, L6-12
Top 4 players: chaoticsky (+120), Recreance (+44), AnalIntruder (+43), Federation (+26)

9. StarFire Elite (2-2)

Most people have SFE ranked higher, but this is a another case of a squad coming out of pre-season without really proving anything. With Lord Lincke back on the roster, new signings scubie and Something Dutch plus all the usual suspects back (Mauler, The Deist, MfA, Divide) SFE have a deep roster and a real run at the title a possibility , but I'm not sure if it will happen. SFE will win the games they're expected to, but when it comes to the big matches they just don't seem do get it done. The one season where they really put it together and made the AML Finals seems a long time ago now. A lot of people think that they will get that far again this season, but so far it doesn't look like it.

Top 4 players: Banner (+129), MfA (+105), scubie (+51), Mauler (+46)

10. Zeta-Squadron (3-1)

Another squad who are former AML finalists and maybe a few indicators that they're back to that kind of form after a long break from SVS leagues. Digi was a good pick-up for them and sumirp and HBK along with the real key for this squad, Tritoch, make up a solid starting four. The problems are the bench, who are mostly from SWZ and have little SVS experience, although they are practicing a lot. I'd expect Zeta to make the playoffs, but that lack of depth is probably going to stop them challenging the big squads for a finals spot.

With the vorbometer in AML and the three word predictions for IML I needed something equally half-assed for my pro predictions. I stumbled across a program called Zeus with allows you to sim wrestling bouts. So a few quick name changes and I bring you the Pro League Pro Wrestling Predictions. It would take far too long to sim a whole round, so I just picked the match of the week to do, which this round is....

Assassins vs. Betrayal

The Money Line

I should of known as soon as I started a gambling column I'd start losing. In AML I made 3 bets, losing two and making a $250 loss. The bet that saved me was taking Zeta over llamas at 5-2. I did even worse in IML. In 4 bets I got 1 win, 1 push and 2 losses which gave me a net loss of $2,000. The biggest hit I took was ReDS losing to Dedication. Pro was even worse, I lost 2 and 1 was pushed. I was close though. I took the spread on Starseed at 6 over EGO and they lost by 7 and the spread on BoP at 7.5 over Betrayal and they lost by 8. I ended up dropping $1,500.

The way I bet I'm probably always going to lose more bets than I win, but make up for it in the payouts on my winning bets. I'm not looking for betting on the favourites, I'm looking to make bets which give the biggest payouts. I'm not betting against teams, I'm betting against predictors.

In AML the best bet right now is CRIPS over 7rom. A CRIPS wins gives you a 4.50x payout. Last week against us CRIPS showed 4 from the start and played good enough to make me think they'd take out a squad like 7rom pretty easily. The next best bet is }Silence{ over Shadow. Both of these are new squads from non-SVS zones (silence from the gauntlet and shadow from trench wars) so I can't see any real favourite in this game which makes a 2.33x payout on shadow worth a few imaginary dollars. The rest of the match-ups are too close to get good odds or the favourites will win easily. But if you're looking for spread bets I'd take FnD (+6.5) against Warlords.

In IML all the games are really tight which means no big payouts. Despite last weeks mess ReDS are 11-7 favourites over Dwings which gives a 1.57x payout on a Dwings win which is the only bet worth making right now.

Pro matches still aren't open, with all games 3 predictions away. Like IML, there's not many bets to be made. The only real underdog worth your money is on Inferno beating Boundless which would give you a 6x payout right now, although that may change when the betting opens. For pro I'd look to make spread bets again with BoP (+7) over Starseed and MMA (-2.50) over ds the top two.

Hanging Chads in Pro

Right now in Pro the big story is that three squads (Assassins, MMA and Symphony) have forfeited their first regular season match for not voting in the Pro Senate on the number of games the semi finals should be held over (In the end the vote was to make them best of three).

You may of missed this as most of the arguments have taken place not on the league forums, but the comments page on the main website which you can read here and the original post on the Pro forums here.

Now I'm in favour of having a Pro senate and personally I'd support all three leagues using them. Not making major changes unless the squads approve them is a good thing, but you can't force people to vote in this way. Some squad captains are like me and will start 150 post threads on every change the staff want to make, some squad captains will vote when asked but otherwise not care and some squad captains don't vote and are just happy to play matches under whatever rules and conditions the staff make.

Nothing wrong with any of those three positions and you're not going to make people care more by blackmailing them into voting, that's just going to make them hostile to any changes the staff offer. Having a Pro senate is good, offering the players a chance for feedback and to vote is good, forcing them to vote and punishing them if they don't is bad. It's bad for the league (round 1 in pro is now a joke) and it's bad for staff. Nelson has been the best sysop pro have had in a long time, but things like this will lose him the respect of the captains and players.

But wait, there's more. Of the three squads that forfeited their game, two of them (MMA and Symph) actually did vote. But as they didn't post on the thread, only voted on the poll, it counts as a non-vote anyway. Turns out that not only must you vote, you must justify which way you voted to the staff or forfeit games.

....just the same as the old template. While Tenet was posting on the comments about how much he hated the new template I was trying to fix the probelms, specifically the font size. It looks like the problem is with trying to change the template to use on eBloggy.

So it turns out that I'm the only orange fan in Subspace. I've put in a new template and this time I've managed not to delete my account while doing it.

I've taken it from a different blog site so I had to do some work to get it to work on eBloggy. I think I've got it right, but let me know if you notice any bugs.

I think the fonts still need some work, I'll give that a go when I have some more time.

What? you don't know what spring league is? Not surprising as since Kat has run it there hasn't actually been one. Not that I'm blaming her for that, but I am blaming her for the state of the waiting list.

Ever since she took over from Sephiroso (how cosy) the waiting list has always been chronically out of date. Looking at the latest list, around 80% of the squads have either folded or are playing league right now. I doubt that Kat knows who 80% of these squads are and that's the main problem here.

Katrina isn't in charge of the waiting list because she is a regular visitor to the forums or knows a lot about what the current squad situation in Subspace looks like right now. Kat is in charge of the waiting list because she needs to be in charge of something. She is upper staff, but actually has nothing to do as Spring League hasn't been active since AML Season 5 (Season 1 of Premier League). So she has been thrown this bone and since she is upper staff it seams she can get away with doing next to nothing and trashing the shit out of anyone who questions her.

As I said in my post on the thread, that forum is one of the first entry points for new players and new squads. The way Katrina is running it is costing us new players and new squads. We need someone to run the waiting list who wants to do the job, we needs someone to run the waiting list who has some knowledge about premier league squads and we need someone to run the waiting list who will visit the forums at least once a week to keep them updated. This person doesn't have to be a sysop, in fact they don't actually need any in-game powers at all.

Right now I'd settle for anyone but Katrina.

Player Movement

Another weekly column type thing I'm going to do on here. At the end of every week I'll round up all the main player movements that have happened. All roster movements are recorded on MasterRater, if you click on the league names below you can see the full list of transactions made since the rosters were opened. The next couple of weeks will be the busiest time for player movement. Once Round 1 of the regular season starts the rosters are locked, so if you're on a roster then leave you cannot play for another squad until the following season. There is a second roster lock in round 4 for players who aren't on rosters, who are allowed to join squads up untill then . After round 4 there is no player movement.

A new column for the PremBlog. Each week I'll look at the best bets to place to make yourself some imaginary money. For those of you that don't know this, MasterRater as well as allowing you to predict on games also allows you to gamble too. When you register a name you're given $10,000 for each league to wager with. The odds are calculated from the predictions which means if you're quick and smart you can place some bets with some outrageous odds. To predict and bet on AML matches go here, for IML go here and for Pro here.

If I started this Blog last week you could of been in on the Secret/Warlords game. For some reason Warlords were favoured by 24-1. I got in on Secret at 13-1 and won $13,000 on a $1,000 stake. No-one else bet on Secret. Again Warlords are favoured to win this week, this time they're 11-3 over Blasphemy. That's a 3.67x return on a blas win. I'm going to hold off on that as I expect the odds to widen through the week. Warlords are going to put my imaginary kids through imaginary college. EF for some reason are 3 points favourites over Anarchists which is the best bet to make right now. Another one to watch is Llamas vs Zeta. Llamas are favoured 10-4 which gives you a 2.50x payout on a Zeta win. I doubt you'll get better odds on Zeta than that this week and you should get in on it now.

Right now all the action is in AML. You need to have at least 10 predictions on a match before gambling is open on that game and no other league but AML has done that yet. IML is slowly getting there and all the games should be open by tonight. The best bet in IML right now is the Dedication/ReDS match. Dedi are favoured 6-3 which gives you a 2x payout on a ReDS win, but I can't see those odds holding out for much longer. With this being the first round in IML and with most teams working out the rust and trying out new lines I'd be looking to place spread bets. I predict that Nightwatch (+4.5), In Flames (+3.5) and Dragonwings (+2.0) will all make the spread in their matches and are worth betting on.

Betting in Pro isn't even close to being open this round. I think the lack of predictors is mostly due to Pro teams not taking pre-season that seriously. Look for more predictions and gambling to be open when the regular season starts.

Well, seeing how Vorbis has kindly set up this state of the art, unique, and interesting piece of work, I decided to use it to my advantage. Vorbis has made it clear that the majority of the staff are a bunch of wankers and they ban anybody for just about any reason imaginable.

Example, take me! I know I am the person everyone loves to hate, but seriously I am banned not once, not twice but three separate times because I posted on a lousy forum! Ace got in a hissy fit just because I created an alternate username on the old shanky forums and responded to some topics. Then he has "comment" sections on the main webpage, and I just post and he gets mad again. This is how bright this guy is, he sends me a private forum message apparently saying I am banned, yet when I check the message it says "you cannot check your messages because you are banned from the forums." I am interested, so I log into the game.... I am silenced for 30 days, outstanding! The next day, Ace messages me and says each time I post on the forums I will get an extended ban. I have not posted once on his silly forums or webpage, I just simply message him in-game and say "fuck off." What do you know, another ban!

These staff fuckers have banned a lot of pilots for small amounts of trash talk. It is part of a game, not a fucking utopian society here. I will probably get an extended ban because I am bad mouthing them on a website not even run by them. This will show once again, they are a bunch of assclowns. Do something constructive for league once, and try to gain some respect.

This might just be me, but it's my list so bite me. Shad was the 4th person to join Victimise after me, Megus and Little_Wing69. I thought he was a DSB lamer, it turned out he was an excellent SVS player and he led us to Spring League glory. He'll pop in about once every three months to say hello.

How quickly we forget. When Schlepp was made AML sysop and started making huge changes we were aghast. OMG Vorbis, you'd say, we're aghast. We couldn't believe what he was doing. This man must go we said. And he was. And how we rejoiced. He was replaced by Dacrath and his mini-me friend Lord Lincke who immediately reverted AML back to Pro and IML's lap dag. We are aghast. OMG Vorbis, you said, we're aghast again. AML sucks now, you said, remember when it was run by that great sysop Schlepp?

AML just isn't going to be the same without Master and Wish Master himself. Look up lobbing in the dictionary and there's a picture of Wish's Jav.You'll have to look hard for it though, the picture is actually 12 pages behind the entry. Michael Jackson didn't invent moonwalking, Master did. Sometimes you have to go backwards to come forwards. Sometimes when go forwards you're really going backwards. And sometimes you play Master. Sometimes even I don't understand the crap I write.

5. Suko's Season 6 map

First map I played on and still the best. We should go back to this. I still have this map up in Vic's practice arena.

4. No Data

This is so unfair on me. I can't believe how selfish PanTau was by taking ND out of AML this season. To be a predictor you need one thing; stereotypes. No Data, lobbing Euro-laggers who choke in the big games. I'd just copy and paste that into every match prediction I'd make, who cares if it was true or not. Now they've gone and I have to come up with some new material. How about this; Secret, lobbing Euro-laggers who choke in the big games. And no-one schedules a game quite like etc.

3. Spy

Spy now plays pro. Want me to say that again? Spy now plays pro. Nope, still doesn't sound right. Spy's job is to build an AML squad out of dz pub lamers, aliased ringers and double squadding pro players. They win all their pre-season and first couple of regular season games 12-0. Spy starts shit. The aliased ringers (AhmedF) start shit. The players start to go inactive, they start to lose matches and then lose by no-show in the first round of the playoffs. That's what Spy does and no-one can quite do it as well. Spy now plays pro. Even the third time it still doesn't sound right.

Jesus Christ and a tool have a lot of things in common, and not just that they both like to wear sandals and a white dress. Like Jebus a tool likes big entrances. Like Jebus a tool will generate a huge following. Thousands of people will fill spec to hear him speak and go 9-2. And like Jebus the crowd will turn against him and it's crown of thorns time. But fear not, for is it not written in Ballwashers verse 4 chapter 2 that in the playoffs He will return and lead the Blacknikes out of Egypt and into the AML final? In the mean time we'll just have to make do with agentgeorge the baptist.

1. Prox

Is it only last season that we still had prox? Seems like years ago. Remeber those halcyon days when you would shoot a bomb and it would blow up when it was supposed to? Remember when you saw a thor at the edge of your screen and it didn't kill you? Remember when someone in spec coughed and it didn't kill everyone in every arena in every SVS zone in Supspace? Remember when people in power cared about this game and not whether or not PriitK is paying too much for Trench War's server? Nope, me neither.

Top 10 AML Pilots to watch

This is not another top 10 list of the best pilots in AML. Miner has already got that covered and I wouldn't dream of butting in. This is the list of the guys who are must see this season. And believe me skill is way down on the list of reasons. Starting with:

10. bhang

Since bhang has already won the last 23 pro titles with Intrepid playing in AML is hardly going to strech him. So the question is not how is he going to perform in his games, but what else is he doing? While 1% of his brain is going 8-0 vs Hit-N-Run what's the other 99% doing? So what we need is a bhangCam. Surely he must be up to something? Forget about the bang bus, from now on it's all all about the bhangCam.

9. Hattrick

It'll be interesting when people find out who this guy is. Think AnalIntruder with aim.

8. A.W.O.L

This is not about awol, rather than what happens around him. All he has to do is play and the trolls start to fill up spec. Such hate, but makes for good logs

7. DeathKnight

DK is the absolute definition of a choker. When things are going good then dk will play well, in fact at this very moment in time Miner has dk ranked as the #1 player in all of AML. But when things start to get a little tough then dk goes postal. He's never been able to handle the big games. So when Heaven are in the playoffs make sure you're speccing dk. And the thors are always good for a couple of chucks.

6. Tritoch

Lets all sit back for a moment and consider BUNNER. My how we laugh. BUNNER VICTA STRENGTH AND HONOUR and so forth. Who cares if they never win beause we are all in spec holding our sides less they split due to the hilarity of it all. But there's a dark heart deep beneath BUNNER and it's name is Tritoch. At least once a season a BUNNER game will turn into the Blair Witch Project as Tritoch will hunt down the opposition one by one turning the arena into a bloodbath. There's a case for calling Tritoch the best player in AML and now and again he likes to show you why.

5. Spirant

Sometimes you feel sorry for poor little spriant and his poort little brain. He says we are all jealous of his skill after his playing for only 3 months. But, we say, you fucking suck. Ah ha, he says. that's becuase I don't care. Then why, we retort, have you signed up a bunch of pro ringers to win AML. Well you see, he responds, that's because .... um ...... well, it's .... and then it happens. His brain stops working. He puts on his favourite trench coat, grabs his Dad's rifle and heads off to the nearest school. I'm guessing somewhere around Round 5.

4. AnalIntrduer

Some players have interesting styles, but anal is on another planet. In AnalLand you never see another player, you have to be at least 4 screens behind the action. In AnalLand it doesn't matter where you shoot bombs as long as you shoot them and keep shooting them until your lanc has filled the whole universe with little bouncing bombs of happiness. Of course this means that in AnalLand you will go 0-3 in under five minutes. But in AnalLand that doesn't matter. Because in one game every four seasons it'll all come together. The bounces will go your way and you'll finish 10-0. This isn't league play, this is performance art.

3. ZDeathX

If there's anyone who is genuinly bipolar in real-life then it's ZDX. Like dk when things are going his way then he's fine, but if the slightest tiniest little thing goes wrong he turns into a dribbling mental case. Out comes the rockets and it like watching your ADD suffering 5 year old nephew after a six pack of Pepsi. Now most people would perhaps be concerned to watch a fellow AML'er battle with deep rooted mental problems. Not me. I sit in spec and poke him with a virtual stick. I suggest you all do the same.

2. Don Cherry

One word; Scanners. You know it's going to happen. The eyes bug out, the head starts to jiggle, then wobble, then vibrate and BANG it's a brain facial for everyone in a ten foot radius. Same thing for our little cloaking friend Donnie C. You know it's going to happen, the only question is when. The fact that Sumi is now his squad captain only means it'll be a lot quicker than when he was on Ferrum. Don't miss it., you'll kill yourself if you do. Just like Spirant will in Round 5.

1. FUCKSTORM

FUCKSTORM is the man in the white suit. You've all seen the Simpsons episode I'm talking about. When Marge buys a pretzel franchise and it ends with the Maifia and Yakuza in a pitch battle on the front garden. And there he is, the man in the white suit. He's just standing there doing nothing. But you know, he's just about to do something and it's going to be great. That's FUCKSTORM. He's been standing there for 3 seasons now. This is the moment he's going to do it. Homer missed the man in the white suit, don't miss FUCKSTORM. But, you say, FUCKSTORM isn't on Alc's roster this season. But, I reply, that's when he's at his most dangerous.

Top 10 Worst AML Squad Banners

The Vorbometer will be making it's triumphant return this season, but not until the regular season starts. So in the meantime I thought I'd do some top ten lists. Starting with the squad banners I hate the most. As ever, if you have any views, comments or suggestions then keep them too yourself because quite frankly I don't give a fuck.

10. StarFire Elite

Doesn't look like a Star. Doesn't look like Fire. Doesn't look Elite. Looks a bit like a New York skyline if you scrunch your eyes up. Change the squad name to SkyLine Elite and I'll take you off the list.

9. Fighting Foondons

Do not make banners when you're drunk, do you hear me Grunt? Ok, so it looks the same upside down or right way up, but it looks shit anyway so who cares?

8. Smirnoff

A big S. How original. Well it was when Redshift did it in 1974. If RS got royalties from every squad that has used one of their banners the whole squad could've retired by now.

7. arwing

RW? why not AW? and why arwing anyway? Why not Airwing? Why not R-Wing? That's slightly better than arwing which sounds like one of the names *NSYNC turned down as sounding too gay. And how did you lose 12-0 to BoP?

6. Liquid Inc

Three blue balls. This is just too easy, but ..... Last time I saw three blue balls was at THE GAY BAR.

5. OldGermany

OK, so this squad has gone the way of the Third Reich, but they're still listed as an active squad so they make the list. If you're going to call yourself OldGermany, spam death camp macros and choose a cross banner then show some balls and have a swastika or at least an Iron Cross not some faggy pink and red thing. I would of banned Jizzy for that alone.

4. Happy Mob

Ok... so it's brown..... and it's...... brown? Is it Happy? Is it a mob? Is it a Happy Mob? All I know is that it's brown.

3. Corrupt

Two orange diamond things. When Michael Moore becomes President of the World his first War on Corruption will be against the orange diamond things. AND HE WILL WIN. If you want a really corrupt banner, use a picture of SimonSays.

2. Afterglow

Getting Jackson Pollock to design your squad banner is fine if it's 12x8 foot, but if it's 12x8 pixels you get a few squiggly lines. Maybe it's a German thing.

1. Assent

It's a D. I'm not one of the world's greatest spellers, but there's no D in Assent as far as I can see. But unfortunately there's no A in Redshift so Ent can't steal a banner for his Diet-Dissent squad.

AML Season 7 Finals GULF WAR SPECIAL

Bush vs Saddam

So we come down to the last two. The high altitude lob tactics of BushNike against the wild and crazy Idiotphsyopathy. Who thought that idio would get this far? Specially after the mauling they took in the last Gulf War League season. They've managed to dominate the teams in their division posting wins over Iranasary, KUWAITER, Israel X and Ferrum. But can they stand toe to toe with the great Satan?

If this game was all about facial hair then Idio would have it in the bag. They sport moustaches that would make Stalin green. But can the smaller Idio stay with BushNike's depth? As well as a good starting 4 BN have a bench of 500,000 to call on if needed. I can see Idio starting well. Looking to make their case to CNN and allowing the spec freq to inspect their Baby Milk factories. But I think that this game will go the full 45 months and BN will grind out the victory. Yes Dark Gore may not be impressed, but with Buddy Christ on their side how can they lose?

The scheduling thread. This is already turning out to be a classic. Idio have made several statements on CNN, but B.U.S.H. is an old hand at this and his expert use of off the record press briefings have already put Idio on the back foot.

Israel X getting involved. Yes they may have been knocked out, but just one random thor at the wrong time and it's Armageddon baby!

AML Season 10 Finals Predictions

DAMN_Yankess vs ReDs

No Surprise that ReDs are here, specially as their only real threat and the only team to go head to head with them this season, BlackNike, were upset earlier in the playoffs. This final also continues the trend of surprise finalists (SFE, Idio), but will it be the same result?

Most people would say yes and dy have no chance, but they are forgetting one thing. That one thing is THE POWER OF THE CLUTCH. As a little fat bouncing baby boy in the slums of Chile the Gods looked fondly down at Zombie and empowered him with THE POWER OF THE CLUTCH. He has used this sparingly, but those of us who were there will never forget seeing THE POWER OF THE CLUTCH when zombie attached to Dacrath in the IML finals and in the greatest move ever seen in a 2d free internet asteroids game pulled of THE REP HEARD ROUND THE WORLD. ESPN.com had THE REP HEARD ROUND THE WORLD ranked #23 in the greatest sporting moments of all time in the world ever. That's just ahead of Mad Dog Mike Curtis decking the hippie and one below Jamie Foxx throwing up on the Miami Sharks sideline. Along with Zombie dy have Pegasus and Venice Beach who together turned dy's season around and got them this far. And in a Vorbometer exclusive I can finally reveal who Venice Beach really is. He is the fourth brother that Zombie, Miner and Pegasus don't like to talk about. For six days of the week he's kept locked up in the cellar, but on Sundays he is released, given a laptop and mayhem ensues. Then after the game he's given a sack of lentils, a Rubik's cube and kicked back down into the cellar.

ReDs have so much depth it's boring. Seriously, where's the fun in choosing a starting four? Hmmm, these four pros aren't getting it done, I think I'll sub in my other four pros and get my other other four pros ready just in case. Although after saying that their standout player this season is bushes, a true AML pilot, closely followed by 9-Volt (I have to say that, he's my WZL captain and I don't want to be benched). Any team has the ability to choke at anytime and ReDs are no exception, but with the experience and depth Oberic has on his bench it's proved impossible for the oppostion to turn ReDs' chokes early in games into wins. Two good examples are the regular season game against BN where ReDs looked down and out but after subs forced OT and got the win. Then last week in game 1 of the semi final series against Disavowed the score early on was 4-4 and the result was in the balance, but again after subs ReDs just put their foot on the gas and won 12-4. In a single game when one or two mistakes can make or break a squad then maybe DAMN_yankees can pull of an upset win, but in a three game series I just can't see it happening.

Key players:

DY: Zombie, Pegasus, Venice Beach

ReDs: Bushes, 9-Volt, PeRoXiDe

Key Match up:

DY's fourth slot. For dy to have any chance of winning they need all four slots in the game. They can't get 12 kills on ReDs and shouldn't even try. To win they have to carve out a winning position and hold on to it any way they can. To do this their big three must keep that fourth spot alive any way they can.

Vorbometer:

Game 1: Zombie pulls out THE POWER OF THE CLUTCH and dy get the upset win 4-2 in OT.

Game 2: ReDs dominate and win 12-3

Game 3: ReDs dominate and win 12-2 to become AML champs

Watch out for:

The spec freq after ReDs win in the ultimate whinefest about pro players coming here, taking our jobs and stealing our women. I forecast the whiner in chief will be Miner because, as I never tire of saying, sometimes irony can be so ironic. Whatever the final result is, dy are already my team of the season for getting pretender and the rest of Dedication to finally shut the fuck up.

AML Season 10 Squad Review

The Blindometer

Hell, you didn't think I actually put any thought into my predictions did you? That's Mauler's job. So the fact that I can't enter the zone and have no idea who's playing well and who half the squads actually are shouldn't make any difference at all, it might make them better. So with the pre-season starting up I thought I'd do a squad review. As the WarRoom has disappeared and I don't have posting rights on the Premier Times I'll just do them on here. Bring back SS Impact. If you have any comments or opinions then tell them to High Voltage. He'll answer any idiotic post.

7rominence

Coming back for their second season is the wz noob troop that is 7rom. With more or less the same roster as last season you'd expect to see some improvement and a playoff spot a realistic goal for them. But if anyone has seen their development in WZL they know this is unlikely. 7rom might be the only training squad in ss history to turn out players worse than when they joined so don't expect much from them this season.

Blindometer: Below .500

Key players: Fishibaron

squad most likely to: wish they stayed in warzone

watch out for: Fishibaron looking at Betrayal tearing up Pro with a little tear in his eye

BLaCK STaR

AML this season has a real Warzone flavour to it and here's an old wz name filled with wz vets. I was going to make BS one of my favourites for the title, but I've noticed that 9-Volt is no longer on the roster. This puts a lot of pressure on a small roster to show and produce without their most aggressive player. I think BS are one of those squads that will go undefeated through the regular season or get kicked out for no-shows. I don't think there will be any in between with them, It'll be death or glory.

Blindometer: If they show final four. If they don't kicked from the league

To be honest I don't know why they're even bothering. Without me this squad is nothing. They won't win a single game, they probably won't get a single kill. Without my skill and leadership this squad is dead.

Blitzed

The question mark about Blitzed is the question mark. Can ploss? play as ploss? or will ploss? have to play as ploss and not ploss?. Or he could put us all out of our misery and play as borAX. The fact that morphine has been working hard on this suggests that a lot of blizted's big names are inactive. Blitzed have a great captain and a deep and experienced roster but their problem has always been activity and of course whether ChronicFlash has decided to use reps this season or not. We'll probably have a better idea where they stand after pre-season.

The wz invasion continues with the return of the South Americans. They bring lag, they bring levs and they bring 10 man defense. This could be the first team to try a 10 man defense in a 4v4 game. A great squad to watch if you love levs in boxes or if you're an insomniac.

Dedication

A bit of a mongrel squad here with bits from Wretcheds, Ferrum and Victimise joining together for no real reason I can see. I was on a draft league squad with Pers and he was a pretty good captain so I expect him to get this squad playing together as a team, but I don't expect them to do anything much this season. Definitely a work in progress.

Seph>We're back

Except seph isn't on the roster as far as I can tell. Pretty much the same roster dis has had for the last few seasons. I'm not sure how active Kurtz , Blaze, eternal and MD yellow dancer are. If they are active then this puts dis in the title favourites bracket. If not then they'll have to rely on players like Doobie, gold, and Mailliw who are all solid pilots but only play hockey zone now. Also the last couple of time Dis have played AML they went into the playoffs as one of the favourites and choked big time. And having High Voltage on the roster for a week, what was all that about?

Blindometer: Undefeated in the regular season, lose first playoff game

The squad of Alpha newbs who stunk up AML is now almost unrecognisable now after some heavy recruiting by SkyOne. I can see them making the playoffs but not getting that deep. Also any squad that has haz-mat in it is going to have problems at some point.

EpiK

EpiK have a good starting four but haven't got the depth behind them to make a real push for the title. That's been true of them for the last couple of seasons and it looks like the same story for them again here.

watch out for: Passplay destroying a squad on his own at least once this season (don't make him angry, you won't like him when he's angry)

Krieger

A merger of WarGods and Sail boats. So why Krieger? why not WarBoats or Sail Gods? Warsailgodboats, I would be proud to fly for a squad named that. There's a lot of egos in this squad and a few people who have been responsible for their former squads collapsing. If they can get on they could have a real chance of making the final four or they could self destruct in pre-season. I'm guessing at least one player will quit during their first game. The favourite being Blinky with Airwalkr a close second. Oh, and Tech is a [sexual biggotry].

watch out for: Tech refusing to attack anyone with a bty over 50

Liquid Inc.

More or less the same roster as last season although the loss of more marjorum is a big hole to fill. Picking up Bob D'Mule will help some. A combination of experience, teamwork and euro lag will take them into the playoffs but not as far as last season.

watch out for: Sabretooth starting Pension, Proxy and Speed in the same game and the server exploding.

OldShift

Even with Jaakko moving on up to pro with Redshift, Oldshift look a stronger squad than last season and should be a final four contender. Evar, Air, Shikaa and Genocide make an excellent starting four and with people like Eldritch, Rayjay and Megus coming off the bench I expect them to go far in the playoffs.

A lot of familiar names, but I can't see them doing anything. The average age of this squad is 78 and they're just not physically up to it anymore. It's hard to rep when you have osteoporosis and even harder to spot mine reps with cataracts. And how are you supposed to schedule games when it's lights out at 6pm at the Sunshine Home for the Elderly and Bewildered? Guys, stick to chugging around in terriers in Warzone. You don't want any excitement at your age now, do you?

I don't know why Secret are still running two rosters in AML and IML. They looked pretty thin last season and even more so now since Nocarbon became a llama. I can't see the AML version of Secret doing much if anything this season.

SkyRakers

If the Premier League staff were Charlie Brown then SkyRakers would be the football. No matter how many times SkyRakers no-show the staff still let them back in and guess what happens? And guess what will happen this Sunday?

SS CRIPS

I'm worried about Crips this season. They have a roster of six. Bukk won't know what to do with himself. He might have to choose starting lines and even make subs. Crips always do better when their roster is Bukkwild and macksks. They need to cut everyone else now.

StarFire Elite

What can you say about StarFire Elite that hasn't been said every season since the dawn of time? It's the same players playing the same way and grinding out the wins just like last season and the season before that and the season before the season before that. Expect another solid season although I doubt they'll get as far as the final like they did two seasons ago.

Undermined

This is Nightbane's AML name for this season, although they haven't got the depth that they've had in the last couple of seasons. Sister, Imposter and Hobbes.fu make a good three but after that things start to get a bit thin and unless they can improve that depth I think Nightbane will have to get used to the way things were when Nightbane were known as Nightbane.

Unit

I'm not sure about this squad. First of all there's the pro roster which looks a lot weaker than their AML roster. Then there's the size of the squad. That's a lot of people to keep happy and it's not easy, I know. One of the reasons I finally pulled the plug on Victimise was that is was just too big to manage. Finally there's Dre as captain. I played on Dre's DSBL squad which folded in pre-season. All that makes me think that Unit won't make it. a 23 man AML roster competing for playing time with a Pro roster getting hammered as a millstone round their neck plus a dodgy squad captain all added together equals chokus maximus.

Warlords

I think Warlords is Latin for stagnant. Since Dissent was first formed and Warlords lost their entire starting four they've been treading water. The roster is pretty much the same as last season and the season before. And I expect the same result. They'll show, they'll even compete but without that spark they'll lose. So if you're looking for fun and excitement then find out which arena Warlords are playing. Then go somewhere else.
